Rusty Bucket
On Wednesday, October 3, the Webelos went to the Rusty Bucket restaurant to work on their Fitness Activity Badge. We sat in the very private and very exclusive Red Wings room in the back and chowed down on pizza. We talked about the importance of being healthy, clean, and fit. We did some fun puzzles regarding nutrition. And we enjoyed each other's fellowship. |
Boy Scout Camporee
On Saturday, September 29, the Webelos joined the boy scouts from Troop 1005 at the North Star Camporee held at D-bar-A. In the morning, the Webelos participated in a nature conservation project which was removing an invasive species from a part of the camp. They also earned their Outdoorsman Activity Badge. In the afternoon, the Webelos got to ride on a carousel, climb on monkey bridges and trestle bridges, shoot dogfood using slingshots, climb towers and launch a catapult. All of these were made using only wood and rope by the 13 boy scouts troops who attended. We all had a fun time! Hopefully we get invited back next year and even more Webelos will be able to attend! |
Bloomfield Township School Board Meeting
On Thursday September 20, the Webelos I scouts visited the Bloomfield Township School Board Meeting. The boys all enjoyed the opportunity to learn how the school system is run. This will help them in pursuit of their Scholar Activity Badge. Board Member, Ed Ford, introduced himself to each scout individually prior to the meeting. Mr Ford is actively involved with Boy Scout Troop 1022. During the meeting we listened to School Board President Ingrid Day lay out the goals for the new school year and give special recognition to the Webelos I from Pack 1014 out of Eastover Elementary School! Assistant Superintendent, Christine Barnett, talked about how they are implementing the goals of the Board. Ms Barnett also mentioned they have recently hired 80 new people including 40 new teachers. After the meeting, Board Member, Cynthia von Oeyen, told us how her son used to be member of Pack 1014. The Board was very friendly with the boys and they learned a lot about their school system. |
